I think Ben would gladly risk going through life with a permanent limp. But going through life without a brain? What is worth that? All of those players will be millionaires whether or not they get to the playoffs. It’s simply idiotic for them to expect him to risk dementia just so they can have some pride.
Sorry, guys…I love sports but you have to put them in perspective.
I agree Ray-C. I’ve seen so many documentaries on the football players who retire, and they have so many head injuries that they can barely function as fathers and husbands. Ben did the right thing.
definitely. i’ve undoubtedly been concussed a time or two, and wonder if i might wind up with any long term effects. so far so good, so likely not, but somehow the thought seems to crop up from time to time. i’m glad the awareness has improved, and people are taking it more seriously.
One of the NFL alums says, “Could Ben talk? Could Ben see?” Brings up a good point. QB is the most cerebral position in football. Having had a few concussions myself, I can tell you you’re not entirely “with it” for (in my case anyway) a week or two. You really want him making game-changing decisions?
Big Ben is done, give him a seat in the owners box. As are most of the Cower era players. That’s all Tomlin has been doing is riding Cowers coattails. Now that Cowers picks and signee’s are either gone or aging, you will see what a mediocre coach Tomlin really is.
