As documented here, Whitey Ford teamed up with his catcher, to “doctor” the baseball. A pitcher can’t really do that stuff without his catcher at least knowing. Since today’s catcher may be tomorrow’s opponent, I’m surprised a pitcher would even try it. If he returns a loaded ball to the pitcher, he’s as guilty as the pitcher; so, why was only Pineda suspended?
