Go blog somewhere else.My understanding of the Indians’ history is that the team name came from respect for a Native American who played for Cleveland in the early years. My father’s mother was an Arapaho from Colorado. She grew up in an era that being a Native American or African American was, to say the least, not easy.

I am old enough to remember the cartoon stereotypes and the insensitive Hollywood portrayals of both.

Do I find the Cleveland logo offensive ? Yes

Do I find the Washington football teams name offensive? YES

I don’t, however, find the name Cleveland Indians, nor the Wash. team logo offensive in the least.

Others may disagree but I While I find Washington’s name pejorative, the team logo is evocative of bravery and fighting spirit. Cleveland’s logo, on the other hand is downright racial !
