As derdave969 says the best, when you see “commish” read owners. People should be mad at the owners, including their own idol owner! Whatever happens is because the owners want it to. (or at least the majority) Sheesh!
As far as Thursday Night Football is concerned, if you’re a season ticket holder and have a job to go to the next day, you really hate it. In this regard, Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football aren’t much better, but Thursday Night Football really blows.
Whatever. People are tuning the NFL out this year, myself included, and it’s mattering less and less what Roger Goodell OR Colin Kaepernick do. Plenty of options to watch football elsewhere.
Thursday Night games should only be played by teams that have a bye week the previous weekend. Then they’d have a long week before they play again., which is usually the case, anyway. There’d be four teams to choose from, two from each conference, because if one team has a bye, then another is also idle. The usual schedule of bye weeks would apply, each week. There would still be 13 games for the Sunday schedule, instead of 14 – plenty for TV to air – they usually don’t cover them all anyway, except regionally, and usually on cable, rather than the national networks.

Is a commissioner actually necessary? What the heck does he do, anyway?

I just now noticed that “unnecessarily” in the last panel is misspelled.
