In some cases not getting drafted can be better than getting drafted in the 7th round. Then you get to sign as a free agent to a team you want to play for and has a need for you. You have about the same chance of making the team as a free agent as being drafted in the late rounds. Neither case has a good chance of making the team but in some cases they turn out great.
I always felt bad for those guys. And for the smaller college hoops teams that have all their supporters packed into a small gym. The network tv cameras are waiting to catch the joy of being selected to The Dance, but the selection never comes…

2/3 of all current NFL players were undrafted. He may end up with an even happier party! (Isn’t that his mom patting the player’s shoulder?)

This can be a very sad event for the kid and his family. I’ve seen it a few times where chickens were counted before they hatched.
