If you played without a helmet, you’d be playing rugby. Of course, you wouldn’t be playing with pads, either.
Not a sport for the faint of heart…I once read a newspaper account of a player who had an ear bitten off during a rugby match in England. The match was stopped and a search ensued, but the ear was never found. “Now playing tight-head prop, number 3, Hannibal Lecter!”
