I see MLB is scrapping the 7 inning double headers but are keeping putting a runner on 2nd to start extra innings. I also see they now have an “Ohtani” rule where a pitcher can be in the DH spot and stay there once he is pulled off the mound for a reliever. Makes sense to me, I guess it is different than a Joe Maddon/ Kevin Cash double switch where the pitcher goes to another field position while a 2nd pitcher faces a batter and then the original pitcher returns to the mound later on as I am guessing Ohtani can not return to the mound as DHs are not field position players.
