Baseball was and is a pain in the A$$$ . Some years ago one of the Detroit Tigers had a perfect game and the ump on first base called a runner safe , even though the replay showed that the runner was out . And they would not reverse the call . Sorry but that was just " cruel " and on believable for sure : (
Remember when the umpire’s union threatened to resign en masse if they were forced to call balls and strikes according to the actual rulebook, and the commissioner said “I accept” and forced half of them to resign? Good times….
These automated calls and reviews are ruining my sports for me. Example, the review of offside calls in the NHL. The reason for bringing this in was a bad missed call against my team. Okay, I was mad. The NHL’s solution just made the game worse. A team call call for a review whenever, usually after a goal, even a minute after the players have entered the offensive zone. Goals have been called back even in Stanley Cup games simply because a player straddling the blue line had the offside skate lifted off the ice when the puck entered the zone.

Baseball has a lot of unwritten rules. No crying for example.

Plus, all those people who paid to see the umpire would be disappointed.

Can you imagine Earl Weaver arguing with an AI umpire?
