There is no way to tell. Per baseball-reference com:

“Nëgrœ Leagueplayer stats include league games, interleague games (against major NL competition), and games against select top-level independent Black Baseball teams. Player stats do not include the extensive amount of exhibitions and barnstorming games NL teams often played. NL data is not complete. Research is still ongoing and we’ll continue to publish updates as more information becomes available.”

Well, not always. Ty Cobb batted .419 the year Josh was born.

He wasn’t. There’s no way to know since the his league was segregated, too.

I imagine that Ty Cobb would have hung around longer just to make sure his number was never beat if he knew this future. We will always have to wonder just how different things would have been if we never had such segregation after the US Civil War.

I can’t rationally discuss this without using words GoComics insists on censoring.

Harry Heilmann won the American League batting title in 1921,1923,1925,and 1927.

Alas, in 1929 he had been traded to Cincinnati
