Plants and animals are going extinct at 100 to 1000 times the historical average. The Nagoya protocol calls for 190 Nations to reduce the current rate of plant and animal extinction by half. (Men: This is about looking out for one species- us- and its lifestyle!) Obviously that's not good enough we'll still be losing too many species. The solution is clear: mad scientists. We need to replace the species that are being lost. That's where mad scientists come in. (Behold: The brand-new chicken cat!) Labs full of mad scientists can create new species and set them loose. Net: How betting on the outcome of epic clashes between "Classic" lifeforms and mutants can save the economy. ($5 on the lobster dog to beat the 8-legged tiger beetle.

I’m afraid not. All we would have then is a heap of toxic, steaming “compost”. Then, whatever deliberative body took their place would spend the next fifteen years unsuccessfully trying to determine how to dispose of what had been created.
