Yesterday one of my neighbours had a cat follow her home, it was apparently standing at the end of the road meowing. She had walked to the post box to post a letter, and it approached her on her way back and followed her home where it sat outside and meowed incessantly until she let it in. She then phoned me and I went across to see the cat. It’s a young (about a year) black/grey tabby female with white feet, well looked after, good coat, but no evidence of a collar. I took across some Felix pouches as it was hungry, it scoffed down half a pouch like it hadn’t eaten in 24 hours or so. With a bit of careful rationing (didn’t want it to eat too much too fast), it went through two and a half 100g (4oz) pouches. We stopped there even though it was looking for more. It soon settled down, purring, on the settee. I’m going to take it down the vet this morning to see if it’s microchipped, if not then we’ll put some flyers out.
A mini update on my campaign. When i started taking care of mom full time i had to sell my cars (including my Corvette :( ).I transfered moms car into my name because it was paid for and she was no longer driving. Since i bought my little Smart Car it hasn’t seen much use.I decided to sell it, but first i asked my sister if any of her kids needed a car.So, today my nephew is coming to get the car with the promise that he will give me $900.00 when he can. That will be put aside to help me get the van.I can live with this. Mom told me once that she would like her granddaughter to have the car. She won’t get it but her brother will.
OK, an update on the cat that followed my neighbour home yesterday. We took it to the vet this morning to see if it had a microchip, no such luck. Next step print out some flyers and post them around the area.During my trip around the village, I saw no ‘Lost Cat’ notices, but did find one that was saying a cat had been found. It was in the same area, so I rang the number and enquired about the cat and if they still had it. I was thinking that the cat we had found might have been the same one that had wandered off again.
It wasn’t
After speaking to the people and going to see the cat (young, very friendly…..) we thought that possibly the two cats had come from the same place. There’s been a lot of families moving in and out of this part of the village and we thought it was possible that they had been a consequence of this. Talking to several neighbours it became apparent that these two cats had been seen around for nearly a couple of weeks, a bit strange that there were no ‘Lost Cat’ signs up anywhere in the village (draw your own conclusions).
long story short, I collected that cat and we introduced it to the one in my neighbour’s house, they didn’t get on at all, they clearly weren’t from the same family.
So……..
The cat that followed my neighbour home is still there, and will remain so unless we can trace the owner (slim chance). I can’t take the other cat because my cat, Misty, is a ‘single occupier feline’ and doesn’t get on with other cats. Fortunately, my next door neighbour has been without a cat since Tumble died last year, so he is now the proud owner of the other cat, unless we can trace their owner (slim chance).
I spoke to several villagers as I was wandering around, and it seems that both cats have been seen around for over a week or so, I don’t think there are any people actively looking for either of them. They’ll both have good homes, we’ll see to that.
Lulu update: her foster mom was going to send her to petco today but when Susan went to get her, Lulu ran under the bed. Jean was shocked – said she’d never done that before. (smart cat – she KNEW where she was headed)
Jean said Lulu will never, ever go back to the shelter. She is taking her up to Salt Lake City this weekend (they have a second home up there) and if one of the rescue groups she knows there cannot find her a home, she will keep her. So, Lulu has finally found home. I say that because groups are so full that taking on another cat might be hard.
I had a dog, Charlie Girl, and a cat Hannah Bee. At first they didn’t get along, at first! LOL! They ended up sitting and sleeping together! When our Charlie Girl was dying in our living room, Hannah Bee was right there with her! GEEZ, I am now crying over that again! I MISS THEM, as I DO all my departed pets!
