Never understood the point of dissecting a frog. Thereâs plenty of pictures to show what all is in there. Fortunately, I had a lab partner that was all into that and I just watched. -
Eldo â your pictures make one wonder why we love cats. Last Rose â sick chemist â funny! And âyou know that awful feeling you get on Sundayâ â never happens to us retired folks either. Happy â you definitely win the award for weirdest pictures today
I was a middle school science teacher for 36 years. There were several reasons why we didnât dissect. 1) âNot tested on the âNo Child Left Behind Testâ so cannot be taughtâ (Iâm not kidding here), 2) âremainsâ are considered âtoxic wasteâ and there would be a disposal problem (again, not kidding). Wonder why education is in decline? I gladly got out when I could.
Check out the comic âLost Sheepâ. That is a perfect depiction of springtime in Colorado. Third day of snow, but it isnât sticking down here in town. The foot hills have measurable, but we are just getting moisture. Weâll take it. Weather Channel has us in the 70âs on Wednesday and 80 on Thursday.
We did that in Biology 101. I remember a fellow who was in Pre-Med who dissected an âextraâ frog without pithing him. (Iâm sure he made a wonderful doctorâŠnot!) Also, while weâre about itâŠthe Pre-Meds would move the pointers on the lab practicum so people would make mistakes. Sheesh!

I thought it was interesting, better than looking in the microscope trying to find a paramecium.

What I hated about dissecting frogs, was the smell of formaldehyde. I could smell it on myself when I got home.:-(
