The painting doesn’t appeal to me but I wanted to know more about the artist. I couldn’t find anything online about him. There are several John Smiths but not this one. I guess his painting never improved.

/// Gen’ral Grant’s wife and kids, (I assume),
join with him in their home’s music room.
The fact that they’re all here
doesn’t make answers clear
about who’s buried now in Grant’s Tomb.

Did the artist use the same stencil for all the faces, or is this just a bad case of inbreeding?

Ok, Mr. Lover-boy, you got some explaining to do. That sl*t around the corner say you left your musket and fife at her place……

Lydia, how did we acquire so many homunculi?

I see that Grant was thrifty – he brought spare uniforms home from work for his boys to wear.

Mrs. Grant: I know you were the General of the Army but I think four children is enough…….

The daughter wants to join the Army, too. She knows that she can make that uniform look good.

General looks like he can’t get his leg up to cross it. Wonder why the artist did that?

Cute trick when Mr Taylor died (probably of cholera from the lousy White House water) in 1850.

Those are not children. The way they are drawn, they look like “little people”.
