It was also in 1960 that the Stu [Stuart Sutcliffe, original bassist for the 5 member group] suggested a new name for the band. In honor of Buddy Holly’s band, the Crickets, — of whom Stu was a huge fan — he recommended the name of “The Beetles.” John changed the spelling of the name to “Beatles” as a pun for “beat music,” another name for rock ‘n’ roll.

I just thought that was how the UK spelled the name for the bugs.

They made it all up, you know.

The name, the music. Everything.

You will never see that today…….

I don’t get the love affair with the Beatles. They did pop crap that all sounds the same.

Did they ever have their pictures on bubblegum cards?

I see now.

Beatles music set the bar and has never been surpassed.

I figured that out in 1964, I was 9 years old.

A name mentioned in today’s Birdbrains comic made me think of Thatababy for some reason …

Ironically, I only came to this same realization recently.
