I walked out of a remote transmitter site located in a cow pasture at 3 am to find an emu walking around my truck. He’d escaped from a petting zoo about two miles away.
Must’ve been something about that pasture, since we’d see them (3 emus) occasionally over the next few years whenever they escaped again.
I have a drained-out rhea egg from a zoo in Florida that my cousin worked at. At least I think I still have it. The way my cousin’s been behaving lately I should trash it. But nah. The egg is still kind of cool. Almost the same size as an ostrich egg.
