Gladys: I heard the jokes you were tellings at the party last night. Gladys: What have you got against mothers-in-law? Brutus: Nothing. Brutus: I like your mother-in-law just fine!
A few years ago, a couple of friends of mine sang the old Ernie K Doe song “Mother-in-law” for their m-i-l at a karaoke thing. Considering they are more of the era of that song than I, I was totally surprised that they weren’t aware of the lyrics before they got up to sing. They thought they were singing her a tribute. Uh, no.
