Gladys: What do you recommend to treat cellulite, Doctor Proctor?
Doctor Proctor: Since your problem is not too severe, I suggest exercise and a healthy diet.
Gladys: Not too severe? It's so bad, I have cellulite on my toes!
Everyone wants an easy solution to losing fat. It was easy for me to lose weight when I was seriously ill, not so easy now that I feel well enough to cook.Exercising is good, but dieting is the most important part of losing weight. It is difficult to exercise enough to lose a significant amount of weight, unless you’re training for the Olympics.
Find a calorie burning activity that you don’t consider “exercise” and do that. I found cycling and it worked for me. It put me in the 10-12 year old mindset in a good way! Ya, I hear you saying I’m childish but no foolin’! I loved the freedom my bicycle gave me as a child. Then it made me feel older. Now it makes me feel younger . . .
I have the cursed fat gene, was part of a 10 year study at the local university, while they tried different things. People say its about diet and exercise, I used to work on a farm…you know manual labor all day long. I tried eating a 1000 calorie diet and still couldn’t lose weight, did that for more than a year. That is the curse of the fat gene, is if the world goes to hell, I’d be the last one to starve.
Now I work in an office space, still can’t lose weight even with an onsite gym, but the bright side is, I don’t seem to gain any weight been the same overweight amount for 20 years (only been in office for last 10) I get far less exercise than I used to, mainly because when you work 50 hours a week with a commute, I don’t know how people find time to go work out.
I find between sleep and work, I really only have about 2 hours a day for everything else.
I still do farm work to help out the family during busy seasons too…just not full time. Most obese people might find it difficult to walk around all day throwing bails of hay on a trailer in front of you…100 pound ones give or take, but easy for me.
The late Victor Buono made a record called, Heavy. Making jokes about being fat. He recited a poem. You are what you eat, said the wise old man. Lord, if that’s true. Then I’m a garbage can!
