I regret to inform you that last night, John “Scully” Scully was died peacefully in his sleep when drawing today’s strip. This truly is the last strip. Rest in peace, Scully. Tomorrow, we will honor you by re-running the Fourth of July strip.

Scully periodically floats rumors of his own death to boost circulation of TCSTHAFED. In fact, since 1968, if you look at his signature under a microscope, to read the fine detail, and use a mirror, it says “Scully’s Dead”.

You’re both wrong. Scully died last March, and since May this strip has been drawn by some guy named Ruben Bolling.

“Scully” is taking a brief vacation. This week’s strips will be repeats of earlier ones. Tonight is actually an old rejected strip that is being printed here for the first time anywhere. All the above comments, however, are reprinted from "Scully"s paperback book, “My Best Death Threats, Hoaxes, Pactical Jokes, and Bloopers”, the book that is credited with inventing bad reality TV shows.
