A pun that only works verbally: “They say, ‘Time flies.’ But you can’t do it. They pass at (too) (two) irrregular intervals.”
It also doesn’t work in print in German since they capitalize all nouns and the noun/verb switch in “time flies” would be worse than the too/two.
