I cannot believe people will take something innocent and try to ruin it with unaccounted slanders. Peanuts was just a good old-fashioned comic/cartoon. No need to turn it into something that stinks.
While the York Peppermint Pattie was first produced in the 40’s, it didn’t get national distribution until 1975, some 9 years after the Peppermint Patty character. Since Schultz was from Minnesota, it is possible that he was unfamiliar with the confection, which was limited in distribution to the Northeast and Florida.
Since the name is only cute if you already know the candy…
