While I’m pro-coyote (beautiful animals), their “territory” is the deserts of Northern Mexico and the American Southwest. They only expanded their range across the continent as we eliminated their competition (mainly wolves and bears). They are incredibly adaptable animals and can even be found in cities like Chicago.
When I was homeless my cat and I would sometimes park in a local park (way inside hoping not to get caught) and that is when I found out my fearless cat who terrified dogs for fun and kitty-giggles was PETRIFIED of deer. She eventually got used to them… but never really fully trusted them!

I’m with you Ginger. Coyotes are not something you want to meet even on a clear day. in a car with a rolled up window.

Right! So don’t complain when deer eat your peonies.

Coyotes have been introduced into areas that are not in their original range by people who think they mean well.
