Clean my room? Why!? Just do it. Remember-getting started is half the battle. Yeah, but the other half is in the time-consuming, annoying, stupid, useless, dirty part.
Oh, you’re not assuming that the average kid understands that his behavior has anything to do with other people’s behavior, are you? These are the people who will hold their fingers right next to your eye and say, “I’m not touching you. I’m not touching you.” and then are baffled when you feel justified in calling them out.
Absolutely Greg, but a Mom can have her dreams that her children will become less self absorbed. It is what keeps us from eating our young. :P That and one day they will get a response to the question “Why on earth did you do that?” other than the frustrating “I don’t know”
Long ago as a teenager, mom would occasionslly give up and clean my room. Though I appreciated how nice and clean everything looked, I coud never find half my stuff. Probably because she through it out!
There are a few comic books I ‘drew’ when I was very young that I wish I had kept. Though maybe I couldn’t bear to see them these days… I hope my sense of humor would let me do it.

Mom is right. Doing things isn’t hard. STARTING to do things is the hard part.

But it is the part that keeps Mom from flipping out.

HA! My husband does this all the time to our nieces and nephews and there’s only been one of them to think outside the box on its solution.
Instead of getting mad about it and yelling STOP IT!, the kid leans his forehead against his uncle’s hand and says, “There, now you’re touching me.”
I’ve never laughed so hard in my life.

Why do kids always have to ask “why?” In my day, i was glad to have a room.
