One learns (or should) that slingshots (American), catapults (English) and boomerangs are best employed outdoors.

my cousin David handed me his slingshot when he was 8 and I was about 5. Aunt Aggie was working in her garden and I had a perfect target. I hit said target and was promptly delegated to my Uncle Ike’s wood working shop where he taught me to appreciate a good flat peice of pine…I never picked up another slingshot…

I actually cut up an old tire tube and found appropriate wood branches and made my kids (supposedly, I showed them how to make) slingshots when they were younger. Now they want bazookas and stuff. Escalation is a problem.
