Grandpa, in all the old photos, you look so tall. Did you used to hang out with little people? Nah. I use to be taller. Hahahaha! Used to be taller! You'll be my age someday. You'll get shorter, too. Hahahahahaha! I'll get shorter too! Aheh heh... This is the part of the story where you say and there was a hook dangling from their car door and hold up the end of your sleeve... Right? Right?

My grandmother’s lucky, even being a nonagenarian with osteoporosis hasn’t cost her any appreciable height. My mother-in-law, however, has gone from small to diminutive.

I’ve lost an inch. When younger, I was 5’4. For several years now, I measure in at 5’3.Now, I just had back surgery and was told I might gain a little height back as they shift my spine about.

When my wife and I were first married, my father-in-law was the same 6’ 0" as I. When he died three years ago at 93, he was 5’ 9".
