Indeed it does. Wall Street forced automation on every industry, in all sectors of the economy, because of its presumably improved productivity and efficiency. Every industry, that is, but one. Guess which one? Then the monster came for them too, and, interestingly, they were as unprepared for it as anyone before them. There were very few tears shed for the Wall Street employees – and keep in mind that “Wall Street” as a designation is in no way limited to New York – who found themselves displaced by computers.
