A friends place was crushed by snow. The insurance co decided that snow was water, and paid.

I wouldn’t care where the water came from. As long as they paid. They didn’t care where my money came from to pay them.

Back in the 80’s we had a large amount of flooding due to a long period (days) of heavy rains. It was a this time many people learned the difference between flood insurance and backwater insurance. I personally do not see much difference, but the insurance company accountants and lawyers did.
