I’m not rich by most peoples standards but, being a Canadian, I don’t fear losing it all because of medical costs.

If you have the money to have a computer and the time to blog, you are rich by most peoples’ standards. We have a very myopic view of rich. The guy down the street has a nicer house or bigger car, so we envy him. But, there are millions of people who don’t even have a comfortable space to live or transportation of any kind. We need to establish a society where everyone who works has enough money to eat and have a decent home, and access to good education ( which is the key to the whole thing) and medical care. After that, some people will get rich and others will not, by their own good or bad choices, their own intelligence, or just plain luck. Which is fine, as long as they aren’t getting rich at the expense of denying those basic needs to everyone.

Google the poem “Richard Cory” by Edwin Robinson or better yet, listen to the song by Simon and Garfunkel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwqwAy85CgY)

Compared to other rich countries we are way behind in many areas including medical care.
