Rainbows are sunlight refracted through drops. If the sun is shining on you and it is raining (or raining nearby) you may see one. The rainbow is actually a circle, with the shadow of your head in the center (the bottom part of the circle is cut off by the ground, so you don’t see it). So look in the direction of your shadow. And it refracts at a particular angle (72deg? too lazy to look) so that you’ll only see one in morning/afternoon: if the sun is too high again the circle is invisible against the ground.Double rainbows are double refractions, and usually fainter.
