In a perfect world karaoke bars would not have mics. IMHO

Used to tend bar at a local restaurant in Nashville TN with a dive bar across the street. They had a weekly karaoke night and several people were pretty decent. One of them came into my bar one night as he’d been “busy and out of town lately” we started chatting about not seeing him over there lately. He left and a co-worker informed me he had been “busy” due to his record deal & touring. I don’t remember his name anymore (not a country fan) but I’m certain he had a good laugh at my expense. I know I did!
