Old people remember the long ago stuff quite well. It is the recent stuff they forget first (at least with Alzheimers). My father in law upgraded his classical cassette tape collection to CDs a number of years ago, neatly filed and indexed with a nice CD player by the bed. Just this year, he doesn’t remember what that thing by his bed is for, and started going down to the basement to pull old cassettes from boxes - upset that he can’t find the tape player. We showed him the CDs, but he has no idea what they are.
