Continuing a conversation from yesterday…. Pab - I bet that hate mail re: Mary comes from Catholics. Not that Protestants don’t feel pretty strongly about her - being Jesus’ mother and all - but they worship her.

New Game - Think up names for new shows…especially ones who tie in with this strip. I’ll start - Wheel of Bombers - the only game show where the wheel picks you. First prize is that you get to die and take others with you.

debra4life50: I don’t talk about Mary that often for a few reasons, generating more hate mail usually being one of them.

I am a Catholic – I was raised nonreligious and converted during my teens. (To this day, I hold the record for oldest altar boy in the history of my parish, doing my time from 15-18.) I have a very deep and abiding faith, one which transcends the people who currently lead the Catholic Church.

I’ve always felt a very special devotion to Mary. I pray the Rosary regularly and ask for her intercession. When I include her in the strip, it’s out of love.

I also include her because I think she understands what I try to say when I use her, and would approve. I hate people who use Christianity (or ANY faith) as a weapon, or an excuse to be cruel to others, or anything else contrary to the underlying message of the faith in question.

To everyone out there, no matter what faith (or no faith) you profess: read the Gospel of Matthew, Chapters 5-7. If you agree with me that what is said in those three chapters is a good prescription for how to live your life, then please go do so immediately.

The Sermon on the Mount, the Five Pillars, the concept of Karma, or just being a mensch, whatever variation you profess on the basic message, it’s still the best way to live. And if you consider yourself Christian, and you AREN’T living your life the way those three chapters tell you to, then maybe you’d better go read it again, and again, and do what he tells you before Jesus gonna have to slap a sucka.

Anyway, I suppose that’s why I have both Osama and , and why I use Mary. I use them to attack fake religious folks: Muslims who act like Osama and Christians who DON’T act like Mary.

Okay, enough inside baseball and peek inside Pab’s head for tonight. The funny resumes momentarily, so keep your head, hands and feet inside the strip at all times.

“Two and a half men” works fairly easily. American Infidel, patterned after “American idol”.
