of all the locations that the ioc picked, they picked a city that is highly congested, rainy, cool temps, mostly overcast cloudy days for their summer games. so, no bikinis for women’s beach volleyball. summer in london is really spring/fall for the rest of us. plus, british food sucks.
I’m proud of my fellow Coloradoans. In 1976, we (I count myself, though I only became old enough to vote a month after the election) were told that the IOC had graciously decided to bestow the winter Olympics on us, and we rose up and voted to turn them down. Priceless.
I mentioned before that I had a small involvement with both the Los Angeles and Atlanta Games. Anyone who has visited either of those cities knows what a nightmare traffic is in those places on a normal day. London is no worse. In fact, because of the excellent public transportation system in London, comparative to LA or Atlanta, I’d say, from experience, it’s a heck of a lot easier to navigate.
It is now 12:15AM (EDT) and I have to say, although I hadn’t intended to watch, I just saw the most incredible Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics. It was brilliant ! The people in the U.K. should be very proud. You far surpassed Bejing or any other venue. Tremendous production !! Who knew the Queen would parachute in from a chopper with James Bond ?Bet Old Vic couldn’t do that !

Not to worry. Mitt’s over there to save the games and watch his dancing horse.

I prefer steak and kidneys in my pies. And don’t forget ploughman’s lunch. Or bubble and squeak.
