When Norm is old enough to require bifocals all the time, he’ll (maybe) realize that continuing to wear the sunglasses you need to drive after you get to your destination makes sense. Beats carrying two pairs of glasses around!
My glasses have been treated to turn dark in the sunlight. That is fine until you come in out of the sun and can’t see for a few minutes because it takes time to change back. I still like it better than not being able to see because it is too bright. I tried clip-on sunglasses but they never quite fit the frames.

I once worked with a woman who wore sunglasses in the office because her eyes were hyper-sensitive to the fluorescent lighting.
