Who switches to and from snow tires any more? Since the invention of radials, everyday tires should be good all year around. And if you live anywhere that is not true, you need a 4X4 anyway, not just special tires.
There are lots of folks who switch, and lots of reasons to do so. First off, just because it’s a “radial” doesn’t mean anything at all about whether or not it’s a good snow tire. “Radial” only refers to the manner in which the reinforcment cords are applied. Good snows are also, by their very nature, poor good-weather tires. The tread patterns and composition of the two types differ drastically.
It’s true that modern tires are better at being dual purpose than they used to be, but they’re still not perfect.

And remember 4X4 is for go. They don’t turn or stop any better than anything else.
