I’m with you, Adrian. I wish there was somewhere I could seek asylum from all the poisons pumped into our environment nowadays.

I have made my lot (a whole 1/4 acre) into a wilflife habitat (certified by NWF and the Univ of FL) to the dismay of my neighbors who all think lawns and pest-weed-free spaces are The ideal. I now have shade (lower AC costs) and a satisfying balance between those critters who’d eat up my plants and those who eat them (bugs, lizards, and birds!).

For a number of years, the city would be overrun by biting ladybugs after the harvests on surrounding farms. I don’t know what they have been doing differently in the last 2 years, but the fall infestations have stopped. I hope they haven’t reverted to more pesticides.
