You might be a bit safer in the Zoo, little fellow. Nobody going to call you bush meat and sell you in the town market.

These days, most zoos are improving the habitats for their charges, mainly because the majority of them are born in captivity. People who insist they should go free, don’t know what is entailed in getting them ready for a free life. Nine times out of ten it’s an absolute failure. They have been acclimated to humans, thus getting in trouble with humans who live near their natural habitats. And let’s not forget the scum who poach the animals for ivory used in elaborate carvings and rhino horn and tiger organs in the mistaken belief they are medicinal, plus a whole lot more reasons that other animals are killed for. Zoos may not be perfect, but these animals have a better chance of living and producing descendants than they would have in the wild, given the current circumstances. If you really want to help the animals, consider doing fund raisers that would raise money to give to anti-poaching teams, so they can get more rangers and equipment to deal with poachers and end the cycle of greed and misplaced myths.

Which is better (or less worse, maybe): a life spent in a zoo, perhaps caged, or a shorter life, possibly in jeopardy but where one is free? Don’t ask me…i don’t know. I just know I HATE zoos……….and birds in cages!

I’m with helen. There are a few really good zoos who are providing good habitat for animals that are endangered and need to be helped, but most zoos are prisons.
