My previous dog could recognize the sound of a tuna can being opened. I started pouring the “juice” from the tuna can into her bowl, so she soon learned to come running when she heard any can being opened. But before long she realized that she’d only get something out of the tuna can, so she’d ignore the sound of large cans being opened but would still come running when she heard the sound of the little tuna can being opened.

I disagree with panel 4. The dog across the street has a distinctive “yip” that we can recognize with all the doors closed!

My wife thinks it is strange I can recognize all the neighborhood dogs by their bark. Actually, they are all different—Buddy, Cracker, Magoo, Priscilla, Shiloh, and Lola. Sissy seems to never bark.

We have 4 dogs in the house – of course we recognize their barks individually. And some of the neighbor dogs as well.
