Aw-w-w. Sweet. (And true to life.) The amazing thing is that some dogs who have had perfectly dreadful lives before being rescued (apt term) seem to settle into the role of Man[kind]’s Best Friend seamlessly. Not in every case, alas, but the great majority repay human affection generously in kind.

We have “Bark Day” for birthdays and “Gotcha Day” when the came to their forever home.
