HA! Reading this 2010 comic in 2022 after a bunch of conservative, anti-vax chuds spent the better part of 2 years refusing to take and lying about vaccines during a global pandemic, occasionally stating “religious objections” as a reason not to take it.
True story. “Lemmee give you $20 since you can’t afford that.”. “Wow, God worked thru you to help me. Thank you, God!”. “Nice trick, coz I’m an agnostic”
that is why i never understood religion being at odds with science if god can do anything then anything that the scientists discover was done by god right? otherwise it wouldn’t exist – if it is good god did it if it is bad the devil did it :)
I always love when after a disaster, survivors thank GOD for saving them. What about the fact that HE destroyed everything you own!! I think it would be nice to thank the first responders instead.
With fewer and fewer supposed marvels that “God” can take credit for, we’re left with a greatly-diminished “God of the gaps”, wheeled onstage from time to time to explain, say, the appearance of the image of Marilyn Monroe on a slice of toast.
“Of course it may be said that this very capacity of improving himself and the world was given him by God, and that the change in which he will therefore be enabled ultimately to effect in human existence will be worth purchasing by the sufferings and wasted lives of entire geological periods.” – John Stuart Mill, “Theism”

When I was a child, mom told me that my imaginary friend wasn’t real and in the next breath said, get ready for church.

It’s the best feature of conspiracy thinking. Any new data is further proof.
