Spud was pretty much useless, the screaming scared away the sea gulls. The raccoon,however, was great with the bailing can.

The raccoon probably lifted all of Spud’s snacks.

I think Wallace would love the Nanaimo bathtub races ( on Vancouver Island BC) … right up his alley.

How IN the WORLD did he get Spud into that thing? :D

That, by definition, is a boat.

Raccoons don’t usually get trapped in trashcans. Opossums, on the other hand..

If the raccoon was the first mate, does that make Spud the cabin boy?

Even the seagulls are amazed.

But fun is fun.

They won’t let me have a boat because of all the cannons.

Amelia, all a “boat” really needs to be is an object that reliably floats in water and can reliably contain an object or person to be transported across water. Clearly, despite everything, that trash can managed to check off all of those boxes.

It’s not a very impressive boat though, no.

Ya know, he does kinda look like a raccoon.

Obviously they are fans of the nonfiction book “The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors: The Extraordinary World War II Story of the U.S. Navy’s Finest Hour”.

It is the account of the Battle off Samar, which the book’s author, James D. Hornfischer, labeled as the greatest upset in the history of naval warfare.

I’ve seen pictures of Asian children rowing themselves around the river delta in plastic tubs.

what is the raccoon"s job? i think as long as you keep Spud busy he won’t freak out… that is why he is paddling.

How does he manage to portray Wallace as looking determined and Spud as petrified with basically the same expression ?!
