Mort was a member of a special group, men who fought in WWII and came home to become cartoonists. Him, Charles Shulz, Bill Mauldin were just a few. Now they’re all gone, Mort was the last to go. It is good that the following generations, such as Cavna, honor their passing as they pick up the mission.
Love Beetle Bailey and Hi and Lois. Thank you for the tribute. I knew Walker was good and never nasty but didn’t know how wonderful he was. He brought so much joy to so many people.

Thanks for the tribute to Mort. Anyone who reads Mort’s bio would soon realize that he was quite an amazing man. My memories of his work span decades.

I read the obit in the paper today. Stars and Stripes banned Beetle Bailey from its paper for ten years. Mort also created Hi and Lois.

I was reading Beetle Bailey when I was 10 years old.
I’m 75 now and still read Beetle Bailey EVERY day!
RIP Mort…
