EarlWash, I heard of Germany and/or Austria eating horse too on Travel Channel show “Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World” on the episode of the said places.
Used to buy frozen horsemeat and cook it for the dogs way back when they were slaughtering the mustangs out
west to thin the herds. I never tasted it, just roasted it.
I went to New Orleans with a few friends about 8-9 years ago. Between parades we would grab something quick to eat if parades were scheduled close in time. One day we went to a nearby chinese street vendor trailer. Almost everyone got the duck special as it was ready and quick. One of my friends wondered outloud if it was really duck. I quickly pointed out the complete absence of pigeons in the area. It’s funny how some people lose their appetites, and some just keep eating.
Another time i ate a pile of frog legs before someone told me they weren’t chicken wings. they really do look and tast like chicken. I finished what i had but just couldn’t bring my self to get more.

If it ws horse, it probably died of ‘natural causes’. Horse meat is popular in France.
Have you noticed many mice missing around camp of late?
