We should hope for inflation. The Republican stonewalling in the US Senate has subjected in to massive DE-flation.
The economy has been shrinking the last two years.
This is the scenario where you need FDR scale spending to pull us out.
Deflation is damaging, but not nearly as much as inflation of the money-supply. Just look at the history of Germany, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, etc., etc.,etc. around the world. Monetary collapse leading to governmental collapse, and often, war.
As for gold, nothing in history has served better as money, which is why the advocates of unlimited government hate it so much.
Wait’ll everything collapses, and you have a box of gold bars, and I’ve got a box of canned tomatoes–then you’ll see what intrinsic value really means!
I’m with you all the way, but be sure to check the “use by” date on those tomatoes!

Any currency with the Fink’s portrait on it isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

We were so poor… I thought I.O.U.s were legal tender!
If we wanted an allowance, we had to beat up the Tooth Fairy!
We qualified for Food Stamps before they were invented!
People from third world countries were sending us money!
Is this thing on?

Used to be legal tender for all debts public, and private…
not so much now….McDonalds girl can’t make change even looking at a computerized cash register…
