Saturday afternoon at the grocery store: A rambunctious 30-something grocery clerk thinks it good customer service to refer to my 60-something self, not once but several times during our transaction, as “young lady” and then looks shocked when I wish him, “Good afternoon, Old Timer.” He didn’t do it the next time.
