This must be the difference between a genius and a wizard. A genius sits under a tree, gets hit in the head by falling fruit, and discovers the theory of gravity. A wizard just figures out a way to make a few bucks…

Oh good. At least he just opened a stand. I thought he was going to go to the king and tell him the sky is falling.

If that was Sir Issac Newton, we would have never learn about gravity.

I’ll bet Newton never made any cash money off his theory but the wiz stands to make at least 30 bucks.

I don’t think this was what Newton had in mind.

Sir Issac Newton used the example of an apple falling toward the ground and not toward a mountain..He wondered why, posited the idea that the force of gravitation is related to the product of any two objects’ masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the masses..He then derived geometrically that you can use the center of mass to treat all masses as if they were located there..From that, he was able to show that the mountain was not massive enough for its proximity to pull the apple toward it..Whether an apple actually hit him was not reported..Regardless, the same event could inspire different people down different thought paths and conclusions..The application of the equations of motion and the universal law of gravitation finally explained the orbits of celestial bodies.
