I do the same thing on Facebook, but I don’t limit it to Valentine’s Day.

I suspect it was once considered bad luck for a marriage if the bride and groom had ever met before. That way, they start out without as many unrealistic expectations, (theoretically).

Is this the origin story for stalking?
