I’ve done this recently. After almost 20 years of disrespect, trying to set an example of how I like to be treated, when I finally realised that she just wasn’t getting it, I walked away. I gave it some time before responding to her phone calls asking why. When I did she yelled at me while I was still talking. So I hung up. I am polite to her when I see her but I don’t bother trying to be social anymore.
