I’ve barely stopped writing 19 as the first part of the year.

I haven’t written a cheque since November 2017… That was my 98th cheque since 2003… In the UK cheques have been phased out since October 2018…

Many years ago I used to work on the corporate budget forecast. It always threw off my sense of what the current year was. Do you know what kind of looks you get at checkout when you seriously ask what year it is?

I write checks so infrequently that I have to really concentrate when I do.

These technophiles still write checks?

Can’t remember last time I used a cheque, don’t even have one with my current bank account.

A check? Who writes a check these days?

Haven’t had that problem in many years. I write so few checks that, when I do, I have to stop and think about what goes in each field.

Who writes checks? Although I saw an elderly lady writing one in the grocery today and she gave the blank check to the clerk to run through the machine and insert the total bill on the amount lines.

I am much better at shifting dates now than when I was younger.

If anyone remembers HBO’s “Not Necessarily the News”, you may also remember the Sniglets segments – “Words that aren’t in the dictionary – but should be”. The only one I remember is the one that fits here – “Checkuary – the period between January First and when you stop writing last year’s number on your checks”.
