“Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain”. My mother was packed off to Sullins for “finishing” (which irritated the living bejeezus out of her) where one of her teachers firmly instructed her that the correct pronunciation of Iowa was “aye-OWE-uh”.
I used to enjoy that song with the line about “You put the ac-CENT upon the wrong syl-LOB-ble, and siii-iiing” . But recently somebody dug up a clip of an old original performance, by somebody like the Andrews Sisters, and pointed out that the stress variation is supposed to be instructions for putting on a Jamaican accent.

Almost screamed at the hand reaching out to grab me in panel 2! Thankfully I was able to thrust a water bottle into her grasp and escape.
Great art work. I was absorbed in the story telling, and after reading it all my eyes dropped to the hand and I got a bit of a start.
