Are we to presume that the talking critter is a squirrel? Doesn’t look anything like one to me, not even by the generous standards of Bob the Squirrel.
I agree with KM — For those of us who are new to your strip, you might consider using a higher contrast between the chair and whatever character is sitting in it — in the newspaper it is impossible to identify what it is . . . just saying.

Perhaps it is a British brown squirrel, much cuter (and evidently much smarter) than the American grey squirrel.
